About the Position:
Information Technology (IT) continuously strives to produce a higher quality of services designed to meet the expectations of the campus community. We provide a leading-edge technology environment for students, faculty and staff to advance the University's mission, vision and goals. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Information Technology Consultant-Career. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under the supervision of the IT Project Management Officer, the Information Technology Consultant (ITC), is responsible for the planning, implementing and monitoring the division's social media in order to increase service awareness, support marketing efforts and engagement. The ITC will also be responsible for day-to-day maintenance activities of systems, including Project Management solution (e.g. Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, etc.) and the university events communication solution (e.g. Blackboard Connect, Everbridge, etc.).

Using software tools, assists with planning, developing, and executing marketing programs and campaigns, including online advertising, and web site strategy and design. Utilizes communications and graphic design tools to develop: presentations. newsletters, digital/printed materials, and brochures in coordination with the IT marketing and communications team. Uses various social media management platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) to assist with Division of IT social media content creation.

Develops, recommends, implements, monitors, and coordinates technical IT communications and IT documentation that delivers technical content in a user-friendly manner. Assist with developing marketing message that is conveyed clearly and delivered properly. Proofread emails for clarity, grammar, and spelling and ensure messages are sent in proper forms and templates. Monitor communications inbox and follow-up on as required. Track and escalate non-deliverable email addresses to appropriate email support team or project owners.

The ITC (e.g. Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, etc.) is responsible for day-to-day maintenance activities of the IT project management solution, adding, managing, and removing users, manage user groups, and license requests, as well as monitor and update overall user account settings. Works closely with project managers and project teams to communicate activities relating to the IT project management solution. Responsible for reviewing and implementing best practices for setting up and managing the project hierarchy and portfolio organization and communicate related activities. Implement forms, reports and work with teams to implement any technical integrations.

The ITC is responsible for day-to-day maintenance activities of the university communication solution (e.g. Blackboard Connect, Everbridge, etc.), for systems configuration settings, role-based account controls, and data management in the platform. The ITC will set up and periodically review system configurations and make updates as appropriate. Responsible for provisioning new user roles, managing user accounts, and deactivating users timely. Routinely audits the user database for unregistered or inactive users, locked users, or users who are without an assigned role.

Works with project teams and assists technically to coordinate and execute project. Works closely with project manager to assist with projects tasks, take meeting minutes and follow-up on action items. Assist with maintaining technical project documentation and structuring project folders, and managing user permission. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Telecommunications, Engineering, Engineering Technology or a related field plus two years of relevant full-time experience or the equivalent part-time experience. Eight years of relevant full-time experience or an associates degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant full-time experience may be substituted for the previously listed education and experience requirement.

Functional knowledge of the specialty area demonstrated by an understanding and use of advanced principles and theories. Ability to integrate work related knowledge to address problems. Demonstrated competency applying standard and non-standard technology applications and exploring and adapting to changing technology. Ability to independently apply technical judgment, recognize problems, use reasoning and logic to establish possible causes, interpret and apply theories and principles, generate alternative solutions, and implement a plan of action for the best resolution. Ability to develop solutions where precedents do not always exist. Ability to be proactive, anticipate outcomes and consequences of different approaches, and make modifications to action plans. Demonstrated competence interpreting and communicating information. Ability to use reflective listening skills when working with others. Ability to assist others in completing assignments and provides work direction and training to others on new skills and procedures. Ability to plan and work on shared projects.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.


Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in higher education. Experience with Smartsheet or similar project management solution. Experience with maintenance of communication solution such as Blackboard or Everbridge.
