About the Position:
The Division of Information Technology strives to be a strategic, innovative and best-in-class IT organization that provides a leading-edge technology environment for students, faculty and staff to advance the University's mission, vision and goals. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our Information Technology- Student Technology Services team as the Information Technology Consultant- Foundation. Working under direct supervision of the Director, User Support Services, the Information Technology Consultant provides comprehensive desktop computing support to students, faculty, staff, and managers furthering the academic mission of the University either through their own pursuits or by providing services to others who are dependent upon reliable information technology applications. Uses basic understanding of standard information technology principles and terminology, judgment, and discretion to develop timely and effective solutions to a variety of common user problems. Uses exceptional listening and communication skills to exercise tact, diplomacy, sensitivity, personal warmth, and understanding while engaging with a multi cultural, diverse community of customers who are actively involved in activities such as research, administrative planning, and reporting under a variety of time constraints. Provides problem resolution to computing questions primarily in the field, but also occasionally via telephone to ensure optimal system performance. Provides installation services and desktop support for complex or escalated hardware and software problems. Tests software and produces end user documentation and instructions for campus wide distribution. Tracks and reports all customer service requests. Contacts and provides updates to leads and managers regarding progress of assigned projects. Makes recommendations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of work processes and service delivery methods based upon direct experience in the position. Provides first line support for Microsoft Windows and Apple OSX systems, as well as associated desktop applications (Microsoft Office Suite, browsers), iOS and Android devices, and ERP applications. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Telecommunications, Engineering, Engineering Technology or a related field or four years relevant full-time experience or an associates degree in a related field with two years of relevant full-time experience.

Basic knowledge of the specialty work area demonstrated by an understanding and use of general principals and terminology. Demonstrated understanding of the standard technology and systems in place with the capability of supporting and operating the technology. Ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes, and refer to appropriate party for resolution. Ability to solve problems where precedents exist, and acquire knowledge in related specialties. Demonstrated ability to work as a team member. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.


Preferred Qualifications:
Experience using help desk call tracking software. Knowledge and support experience with Windows XP and Apple OSX, as well as associated desktop applications such as Microsoft Office suite, browsers, and communication tools such as Host Explorer. Knowledge and first line support experience with ERP applications such as PeopleSoft, as well as experience supporting custom web-based applications. Experience creating and testing application software packages and producing end user documentation and instructions.
