The Academic Coordinator in Bioengineering in Penn Engineering will build documents and process infrastructure for managing key academic and communication functions such as rostering, accreditation, data collection and analysis to inform and support strategic goals of the department.

Job Description

The Academic Coordinator will be a key member of the Bioengineering(BE) team, building documents and process infrastructure for managing key academic and communication functions such as rostering, accreditation, data collection and analysis to inform and support strategic goals of the department.

In close collaboration with Department Chair, Associate Director, and key senior faculty, the Academic Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining the BE roster, including courses for all levels (UG, masters, PhD) and XCAT. Provide support through the registration and graduation processes, including d updating student information in NGSS.

Act as primary administrative support through the ABET accreditation process and assist faculty members with collecting needed information and updating ongoing documentation. Serve as logistical support during accreditation site visits, and process after-action reporting for future accreditation cycles.

Coordinate the departmental seminar series in conjunction with graduate level introductory courses. Work with faculty committee members to identify, research, and invite potential speakers, and project manage all aspects of physical and virtual visits.

Manage all data collection and analysis around student information as well as implementation of strategic changes based on what the data reveals. Define relevant data points, creating appropriate tools (e.g. surveys) to collect both quantitative and qualitative data, analysis of the data and the dissemination of insights to stakeholders. Create tools such as best practices documents and provide efficient and sustainable methods of communication to students and faculty; provide record to the department.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent people skills; experience working with faculty preferred. Ability to master policies and procedures in a timely manner and communicate them to others. Capable of independent judgement. Able to maintain confidentiality of records and sensitive information. Able to deal professionally and tactfully with diverse constituents. Excellent organizational, relational, and customer service skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; intermediate to advanced computer skills. Demonstrated ability to self-teach multiple applications. Ability to take initiative and work independently, multi-task, set and adjust priorities, and work as part of a team. Existing familiarity with Penn systems and policies highly desired but not required.
