THIS IS A TEMPORARY GRANT-FUNDED POSITION FUNDED UNTIL JANUARY 31, 2026

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Researcher 1 supports all phases of research projects with a primary focus on data analysis and interpretation in biomedical sciences and public health. This position applies established research methods, statistical techniques, and data management practices to meet project objectives and comply with safety, privacy, and ethical standards.


Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Performs advanced statistical analyses of biomedical, public health, and health policy datasets, including large and complex data sources.
  2. Applies appropriate statistical models, data visualization methods, and computational techniques to evaluate health outcomes and identify patterns that inform evidence-based health policy.
  3. Interprets results in the context of study objectives and provides recommendations to investigators on implications for ongoing research.
  4. Design, manage, and maintain research databases and data pipelines.
  5. Prepares high-quality written materials including grant deliverables, technical reports, peer-reviewed manuscripts, and conference presentations.
  6. Provides detailed documentation of methods and results to support transparency and reproducibility.
  7. Assists PI and faculty in shaping research questions and designing studies that align with program objectives.
  8. Recommends appropriate statistical methods, data sources, and analytical strategies during study planning and grant proposal development.
  9. Contributes to capacity-building efforts within the department by developing training resources, offering workshops, or providing one-on-one consultation on data-related tasks.
  10. Coordinates with IT and compliance staff to safeguard sensitive data and ensure secure storage, retrieval, and transfer of research information.
  11. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Sciences, Data Science, Public Health, or related field. (Master's Degree preferred.) (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of relevant experience; OR Master's Degree and one (1) year of relevant experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of research methods in biomedical sciences, public health, and data science.
  • Knowledge of procedures for secure data collection, management, and analysis.
  • Skill in statistical modeling, database design, and use of analytical software (e.g., R, Python, SAS, or similar).
  • Ability to prepare technical reports, manuscripts, and presentations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary research teams.

WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work evenings and weekends.
